A BIT ABOUT ME

As a child of the internet you can probably just Google my career path (and my 2009 fringe) but since you’re here I’ll tell you about my last few years.

I’ve been an editorial intern at art and lifestyle magazine, Frankie, as well as landing an internship at leading Australian fashion publication, Fashion Journal, from September 2019 ‘til February 2020.

I’m now a contributor to both.

What was I doing in 2018, you ask? I spent most of the year on exchange in Amsterdam studying International Journalism at the University of Applied Sciences (as well as riding my bike everywhere and eating mountains of stroopwafel).

It was here that I was the Editor in Chief of the course’s print magazine project.

In 2019 I completed a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Media at RMIT where I learned a broad range of media-making skills.

This includes video filming and editing, podcast making, radio broadcasting, copywriting and a strong focus on writing for digital and print mediums (because I’m a sucker for magazines and words).

As a bright-eyed fresh-graduate I was ready to jump into a full-time career in 2020. But, alas, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and I was made to reassess all of the New Year resolutions I’d created.

With the time I found in lockdown, I reached out to fellow media-slashie, Maggie Zhou, and together we created the weekly pop culture and current affairs podcast, Culture Club.

During lockdown I also finessed my copywriting skills thanks to the Copywriting Essentials course from the Australian Writers Centre.

Here I learnt how to craft headlines that sell, how to write for SEO, and more juicy word secrets.

What this all means is that I’m now a gig-economy, job hustling, making-it-up-as-I-go-along, freelance media person.

So… if you’re looking for a journalist for a feature, a digital native to craft some copy or a producer to help create a podcast - I’m your gal.
