About Me, Jasmine!
JOURNALIST
I’m a Melbourne-based writer with a love for all things culture.
I’m currently a native content writer for Pedestrian Group which means creating content for young people for the brands they care about.
As a previous freelance journalist I’ve contributed to a range of local and global publications including Pedestrian TV, ELLE, and more. I also cut my teeth as an editorial intern at Fashion Journal and frankie magazine during my studies.
I’ve written on a range of topics including toxic positivity, how fashion can be a tool for Indigenous activism, sustainability as well as interviewing artists such as Banoffee and Tkay Maidza.
I’m always looking to follow my curiosity and write about exciting topics that give a voice to young people.
PODCASTER
Alongside my writing, I also host the weekly pop culture and current affairs podcast, Culture Club with fellow media slashie Maggie Zhou.
A project that began during the long COVID lockdowns we’ve since covered topics such as how Gen Z is coming out sans labels and recorded a live episode on fast fashion greenwashing at the 2021 Melbourne Fashion Festival.
Our monthly guest episodes have included local powerhouses such as Flex Mami, Sianna Catullo from Clothing the Gaps, and comedian Samantha Andrew.
COPYWRITER + Content Creator
As well as writing for editorial publications, I also freelance for a number of exciting copywriting clients.
I’m the wordsmith behind sustainable hiring platform Walk-In, write social media copy and show notes for podcasting agency The Peers Project and help out at independent branding studio Ballet-Season.
I’ve previously written SEO content for brands such as Crave New Media agency, zero waste store Free-From Lifestyle, the by-women-for-women superannuation group Verve as well as helping small businesses find their tone of voice through website rebranding.
ABOUT ME
As a digital native and through my experience working in fashion magazines, it’s in my DNA to be across the latest trends.
From today’s latest skincare craze to that new TikTok sub-genre, I’ve seen it, analysed it and asked what this says about our culture on a deeper level.
By understanding and being absorbed in today’s world I can help you talk to modern readers, audiences and consumers.
When I’m not absorbing and writing about pop culture you can find me with my head in the latest book, drinking too much coffee around Melbourne or roller skating.
I believe I’ve gained more experience from interning and creating my own projects than studying but I also have a couple of qualifications up my zillenial sleeves if you fancy a browse.
